From the district league B to the regional league west and back? This direct route threatens the financially struggling club Turkspor Dortmund. On Thursday evening, the club announced in a press release that a Filing for bankruptcy was provided. This threatens to result in a deduction of nine points, which would immediately lead TSD to a relegation place in the Oberliga Westfalen. Gaming operations should definitely continue.
The press release in full:
“The club Türkspor Dortmund 2000 eV is to be restructured. After the club filed for insolvency, it is now intended to initiate its reorganization as part of an insolvency plan procedure. Türkspor Dortmund goes back to SV Borsigplatz Gençlerbirliği, which was founded in 1991 and has been the home for Turkish football in the north of Dortmund since that time.
The Dortmund District Court has appointed the experienced insolvency administrator Markus Birkmann from the BBL law firm as provisional insolvency administrator. In an initial conversation, Mr. Birkmann expressed himself positively about the restructuring prospects: “The aim of this process is to turn the club, which fundamentally appears to be economically sound, upside down. With our combined efforts, we should succeed in this project.”
On board is the insolvency and sports lawyer Dr. Gregor Reiter from the law firm Fischer & Partner, who was already involved in the successful restructuring of the women’s league team FCR 2001 Duisburg. “The association makes an important contribution to society and is therefore absolutely worth preserving,” says Dr. Reiter in a first statement.
The club, which played in the Regionalliga West in the 2024/2025 season, has a total of over 200 players active, of which more than 130 play in the youth sector.”
