The quarter-finals of the DFB Cup are coming up. This week two Bundesliga teams meet, and fans can also expect a north-south duel. Where you can watch the games.
The quarter-finals in the DFB Cup are far apart. Two games will take place this week on Tuesday and Wednesday, the other two games will take place a week later.
There is a Bundesliga duel on Tuesday: runner-up Bayer 04 Leverkusen hosts FC St. Pauli. Both teams have already met in the league this season, with Bayer winning the duel at Millerntor in Hamburg 2-1.
Bayer Leverkusen had already had trouble twice on the way to the quarter-finals: After an effortless 4-0 win in the first round against fourth-tier SG Sonnenhof Großaspach, the Werkself had to go into extra time against SC Paderborn. In the third round there was a really tough challenge with Borussia Dortmund, which coach Kasper Hjulmand’s team mastered with a 1-0 win.
DFB Cup: Bayer – St. Pauli will be broadcast on free TV
FC St. Pauli won two of their three DFB Cup games on penalties. At the start, the Kiezkickers had a hard time against Eintracht Norderstedt from the regional league, and progress against TSG Hoffenheim was only secured in a penalty shootout. In the third round, St. Pauli won 2-1 at league rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The game between Bayer Leverkusen and FC St. Pauli will be broadcast live on free TV. ZDF shows the meeting between the two Bundesliga teams. Kick-off at the BayArena is at 8:45 p.m.
Holstein Kiel – VfB Stuttgart also runs in second place
The second quarter-final takes place on Wednesday: Second division club Holstein Kiel welcomes Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart in a north-south duel. While the storks are struggling in the second division, the situation for the Swabians is clearly improving: VfB has only lost one of its last eleven competitive games and is once again playing for the Champions League places.
The game between Holstein Kiel and VfB Stuttgart will also be broadcast live by ZDF. Kick-off here is also at 8.45 p.m.
The other quarter-final matches in the DFB Cup are scheduled for next week: Hertha BSC will face SC Freiburg on Tuesday and FC Bayern will face RB Leipzig on Wednesday.
