Soriano billiards once again took center stage in the Castilla y León 5-Cut Billiard Championship, held in Valladolid, with a new final with a clear Numantine accent.
For the third consecutive edition, the victory went to Carlos Cortés from Soriano, who won by a tight 3-2 against Pedro Camarero from Burgos, a player who has defended the colors of the Círculo Amistad Numancia de Billar for years.
Both finalists had a demanding path until the decisive duel, since in the semifinals they beat the main local representatives with authority.
Cortés defeated Javier Merino, current champion of Spain, 3-0, while Camarero did the same, also 3-0, against José Ignacio Merino, former national champion and fourth in the Spanish ranking. A top-level quartet that will meet again at the end of the month in Alcobendas, where they will compete in the XX Spanish Championship.
The Soria representation was completed with the outstanding performance of Fausto Hernández, who managed to qualify for the quarterfinals of the regional championship. For their part, Jesús Pérez and Gennaro Dambra could not pass the preliminary phase and finished the competition in 11th and 14th positions, respectively.
With this new title, Carlos Cortés consolidates his dominance at the regional level and reinforces the excellent moment of Soria billiards in official competitions.
