Schwerin, Germany – The BSC 95 Schwerin badminton club is gearing up for it’s annual Charity Cup, an event that has become a highlight for both local athletes and charitable causes. Last year, the club set a new record, donating an remarkable 1,700 euros to the non-profit institution “Vielfalter.” this landmark achievement coincided with a record number of participants, drawing praise even from the then-mayor, Rico Badenschier, who delivered the opening speech and lauded the initiative.
Now, the club is aiming to replicate that success for the 2026 Charity Cup. However, this year, they’re taking a diffrent approach to selecting the beneficiary. Rather of the BSC board unilaterally choosing a recipient, they are opening the floor to suggestions and applications from the community. For the first time,we want to take a different path for 2026. The BSC board does not simply select such a donation recipient. No, this time suggestions and applications can be sent to us. After all,no great project,no impressive initiative in and around the state capital should be lost. We don’t know everyone either,
stated the organizers.
This open call aims to ensure that deserving local projects and initiatives receive the recognition and support they deserve. The deadline for submitting suggestions via email to charitycup@bsc95.de is February 15th.
For those unfamiliar with the Charity Cup, it’s an annual badminton tournament dedicated to a good cause.the event brings together company teams, recreational players, and club athletes who compete fiercely in all three doubles disciplines. While the competition is described as ambitious and hot,
it’s consistently underscored by a strong sense of fairness. All entry fees collected are pooled into a donation pot, wich is then awarded to a local association or a community-oriented institution.
The club emphasizes that applicants don’t need to be members of BSC 95 Schwerin. Anyone who wishes to highlight the critically importent work of a particular organization is encouraged to submit their proposal.Just write to us why we should support this with our Charity Cup.Feel free to be creative,
urged press officer Patrick Dettmann.Convince our seven-member club board.
Mark your calendars: March 28th is the date to circle for the 2026 Charity Cup. Teams are encouraged to start gathering their players and prepare for registration. Whether it’s a corporate squad, a duo of colleagues, or training partners, everyone is welcome to participate. Dettmann also hinted at exciting developments, stating, Stay tuned. There are also some innovations planned, including the introduction of two performance classes.
the official call for proposals will be released promptly after the donation recipient has been selected.
