Carioca: Botafogo vs Vasco Relegation Risk

O Botafogo already qualified for the quarterfinals of the Carioca Championshipbut it can complicate the life of the Vasco in the last round, next Sunday (8/2), in a classic with an undefined location.

At the end of the fifth round, Vasco only drew 0-0 with Madureira this Monday (2), in São Januário. Cruz-Maltino, therefore, goes to the last round without a guaranteed place.

If Vasco loses or draws with Botafogo and Sampaio Corrêa beats Flamengo (a game that takes place the day before at Maracanã), the Cruz-Maltino club will go to the so-called Group X together with the red-blacks, Portuguesa and Maricá or Nova Iguaçu.

In this scenario, only Botafogo and Fluminense, from the so-called big four, would advance to the quarterfinals. In Group.

Vasco x Botafogo next Sunday (8/2), at 6pm, there is no defined location because the classics need to be played with a divided capacity and Maracanã will already host games by the Fla-Flu duo. According to Ferj, the clubs are working out an agreement for the classic to be held in São Januário, with only 10% of the load going to Botafoguenses.

Last round of the Guanabara Cup:

7/2 – 5pm – Portuguesa x Nova Iguaçu
7/2 – 6:30 pm – Bangu x Boavista
7/2 – 9pm – Flamengo x Sampaio Corrêa
8/2 – 5pm – Volta Redonda x Madureira
8/2 – 6pm – Vasco x Botafogo
8/2 – 8:30 pm – Fluminense x Maricá
