The Lions of Teranga will not go any further. Heavily sanctioned after the final of the 2025 African Cup of Nations, during which they left the field against Morocco to protest against refereeing decisions, the Senegalese will not appeal. The sporting and financial sanctions against the Federation, the coach and two players are therefore ratified.
“The FSF has notified the continental body of its desire not to appeal the sporting and financial sanctions imposed against it,” we read in a press release. This waiver of appeals also concerns individual disciplinary measures targeting national coach Pape Thiaw and national team players Ismaïla Sarr and Iliman Ndiaye. »
513,000 euros in fines and Thiaw suspended
As a reminder, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) imposed heavy sanctions. The Federation was thus fined several fines which ultimately peaked at 513,000 euros. Pape Thiaw was penalized with a five-match suspension and a fine of 83,000 euros while the two players were suspended for two matches for “unsporting behavior towards the referee”.
Morocco was also sanctioned, starting with captain Achraf Hakimi who received a two-match suspension from CAF, including one final match. Ismaël Saibari is suspended for three official matches and fined 83,000 euros. The Moroccan Federation will also have to pay 260,000 euros.
