The remaining German European Cup participants had until Thursday evening at midnight to submit their updated squad lists to the European Football Union. UEFA wants to publish the new player squads on its website once all squads have been approved. Borussia Dortmund and a little later VfB Stuttgart anticipated the association by announcing their changes.
At BVB, defensive midfielder Salih Özcan (28) and storm talent Samuele Inácio (17) will now be available to coach Niko Kovac in the premier class. Özcan was left out in the summer due to the competitive situation. The Turkish international is now playing a bigger role at BVB again and has recently made occasional, albeit short, substitute appearances. Since Pascal Groß (34, to Brighton) and Aarón Anselmino (20, via parent club Chelsea to RC Strasbourg) left the club in January, two places on the black and yellow squad list were free. Cole Campbell (19, Hoffenheim) and Julien Duranville (19), who left on loan, were available via the so-called B-list.
While the A list is fixed, the B list may be updated before each match day. Players only have to report to UEFA by midnight the day before the relevant game. Coaches may place on this list players who were born on or after January 1, 2004 and who played for that club for two consecutive years between their 15th birthday and registration with UEFA. 16-year-olds must have spent the last two seasons with the club.

VfB Stuttgart replaces Zagadou & Jovanovic in the Europa League squad
There are two changes for the Europa League at VfB Stuttgart. Dan-Axel Zagadou (26, muscle injury) and Lazar Jovanovic (19, back problems), who are in training after injuries, will be replaced by central defender Ameen Al-Dakhil (23) and midfielder Nikolas Nartey (25). 7.5 million newcomer Jeremy Arévalo (20), however, remained out of the European Cup for the time being.
Al-Dakhil has appeared on the field seven times in the Bundesliga so far this season. Nartey made a triumphant return after difficult, injury-plagued years and was recently a regular on the tenth team. He was used twice in the league phase after he was called up for the injured Ermedin Demirovic (27) due to a special rule. However, he was no longer eligible to play for the games against Roma and Young Boys Bern in January.
