BSR Amiab Puertollano recovers its postponed match against Fundación Vital Zuzenak this Saturday at the Santiago Cañizares pavilion (4:30 p.m.), with free entry for all fans.
The mining team faces the clash with respect against a rival for whom it has always shown its admiration, not only for its sporting performance, but also for its firm commitment to adapted sports and social inclusion.
The Vitorian club has established itself as a national benchmark for its ability to attract boys and girls with physical, mental or sensory disabilities, integrating them into different sports disciplines. In addition to wheelchair basketball, they offer the possibility of practicing rugby, cycling, badminton, motocross, Olympic shooting, Paralympic dressage, athletics, swimming or goalball, among other modalities.
Behind this project is the support of entities such as the Vital Foundation and private companies, as well as the support of the Vitorian administrations, which are firmly committed to adapted sport as a tool to promote social inclusion, break down cultural barriers and promote equal opportunities.
On a sporting level, the Alava team started the season with doubts, achieving their first victory against bottom team Elche, although always offering a good competitive image. That progression culminated with a surprising and outstanding victory against the third-place team in the league, Villa de Leganés, a result that has raised alarm bells in Puertollano.
The coach of BSR AMIAB Puertollano, Manuel Pérez Luna, does not trust the opponent and has worked during the week to maintain the concentration of his squad: “During the week I have tried to make my players understand that we are facing a team that knows what they are playing and has very dangerous players. That is why we cannot trust ourselves. From the second one we have to come out very focused and not let them play their game. For us it is very important to continue scoring and maintain the winning dynamic, and even more so playing at home, in Santiago Cañizares, where we count all our games as victories.”
The match is therefore presented as a key event for the interests of the local team, which will seek to assert its strength as host against a rival in a clear ascendant line.
