Bruno Parole Denied: Court Sets New Deadline

O TJRJ (Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro) determinedthis Friday (6), that Bruno Fernandes das Dores de Souza has 5 dias to appear before the Penitentiary Council to regularize his parole benefit. If he does not comply with the measure, an arrest warrant may be issued.

The decision was made by the Criminal Executions Court of Rio de Janeiro.

O former Flamengo goalkeeper was sentenced to 23 years and one month in prison for the crimes of qualified homicide, kidnapping and false imprisonment and bodily injury of Eliza Samudio

The Court had granted Bruno the benefit of conditional release in January 2023, but the goalkeeper did not sign the Term of Ceremony.

The MPRJ (Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro) urgently requested the TJRJ to suspend Bruno’s parole for non-compliance with the Criminal Execution Law (Law No. 7,210).

Bruno did not sign the Term of Ceremony, and when contacted he was not located at the addresses provided to the Court. All subpoenas sent to the former goalkeeper to communicate the benefit returned negative.

After the MP’s request, the Court set a deadline for Bruno to regularize his parole.

The convict is summoned personally to appear before the Penitentiary Council within 05 (five) days in order to complete the Ceremony Term and effect the benefit, under penalty of an arrest warrant being issued.

Judge Rafael Estrela Nóbrega, determined in the decision

The judge also determined that the period between the granting of parole in 2023 and the goalkeeper formally making it official will not be counted as serving the sentence.
