The appearance, at his own request and that of the groups and which will start at 4:00 p.m., is the second of the head of Transport in five days, after he already did it last January 29 in the full Senate. On that occasion, and despite the requests of the right and independence, he assured that he will not resign.

Puente, in fact, defended that the railway system in Spain is “very safe”, with a risk “close to zero”. At the same time, he admitted that Rodalies is “a lousy service”, insisting that the Spanish government is “working to correct it”. “Rodalies is very bad, no one is denying that, but we are investing to fix the situation,” he said.

This Tuesday’s appearance coincides with a new morning of failures on the Catalan network and with a political announcement regarding the management of the service: the Secretary of State for Transport and Puente’s number two, José Antonio Santano, has announced that he will move to Barcelona to personally pilot the response to the railway problems in Catalonia and guarantee the recovery of the service as soon as possible.
