Brazil displaced European markets and became the main destination for international hiring in January. This is what the report points out Fifa Transfer Reports released this Thursday. The document points out that 456 professional players arrived in the country that month. Spain was second with 244.
Brazilian clubs invested US$180 million (R$948 million) in signings in the first month of 2026. A very significant number since in the global ranking Brazil was only surpassed by two leagues: England (US$363 million) and Italy (US$283 million). In total, FIFA recorded 5,973 international transfers, moving US$ 1.9 billion across the planet. The global hiring profile had an overall average of 24.9 years. Among associations, Nigeria recorded the lowest average (21.7 years), while Indonesia recorded the highest (29.4 years).
The survey details that the majority of transfers to Brazil came from Portugal, followed by Japan, Uruguay, Colombia and Malta. The business profile varied. Most of the arrivals were athletes who were free on the market, followed by loan returns and some specific negotiations. The survey also revealed that Argentina was the country that sold the most players and French clubs were the ones that raised the most money from transfers (more than US$215 million).

The study proved the broad dominance of Brazilian teams in South America. Combined, the other nine Conmebol federations invested US$28.9 million (R$152 million). In terms of number of transactions, Brazil had almost double the second place on the continent: Argentina with 237. Colombia was third with 95, followed by Uruguay with 85 and Chile with 81.

O Flemish It was the Brazilian club that spent the most on signings. The red-and-black repatriated the midfielder Lucas Paquetá from West Ham in England for 42 million euros (R$260 million)the most expensive signing in the history of Brazilian football. Another very significant negotiation by the Gávea club was the defender Vitãowho came from Internacional for 10.2 million euros (R$63.5 million). The goalkeeper Andrew came to reinforce the squad after the departure of Matheus Cunha to Cruzeiro. The Rio team paid 1.5 million euros (R$9.4 million) to Gil Vicente from Portugal to have the archer permanently.
