Peter Bosz put Joey Veerman on edge on Wednesday evening in the interview after the match in the Eurojackpot KNVB Cup with SC Heerenveen (4-1). The PSV coach is not happy with the midfielder’s performance, and makes this clear in conversation with Hans Kraay junior.
“Against Heerenveen was one of the worst matches I have seen from him,” Bosz begins firmly in front of the ESPN camera. “I didn’t like him. He will know that very well.”
“Joey Veerman is a great player. He is strongest when in possession of the ball, but that was not the case against Heerenveen. Normally he always plays the ball to the right colour.”
“And I don’t just mean wide or back, but forward. That is precisely his strength. It is only one part of football. For him it is the most important part, because that is why we field him.”
“He also has to do a number of other things, including taking balls,” Bosz continues. “Fortunately he is making progress in that direction.”
“I think he’s been very good at that in recent weeks. He picks up a lot of second balls and he comes into matches a lot. His game also needed that,” said the coach.
PSV qualified for the semi-finals of the cup with great conviction on Wednesday. In the semi-final battle, the next opponent is NEC, AZ, Telstar or Go Ahead Eagles.
