Historical! Nicaragua’s best basketball player, Norchad Omier, will play in the NBA, the professional basketball league in the United States. Omier has been signed to a 2-way contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. Omier, 24, is the first Nicaraguan to debut in the NBA. He was averaging per game in the Gleague, the NBA’s official minor basketball league, 20 points scored, 12 rebounds and 2.9 assists.

Omier was born in Bluefields on August 28, 2001. Trained in the student leagues of his hometown, Omier made his debut with the Nicaraguan basketball team in April 2021, in the FIBA Americas pre-qualifying tournament for the 2023 Basketball World Cup.
