Bensebaini: Transfer Demand Rises Amid Injury Concerns

Despite Nico Schlotterbeck’s suspension due to his fifth yellow card, BVB coach Niko Kovač remains calm. At the press conference after the win in Wolfsburg, he specifically referred to Ramy Bensebaini as a first-class defensive alternative.

Although the Algerian only had a short appearance against the Wolves, he enjoys the coach’s full trust. “We have a left-footed player in Ramy who did really well when Schlotti was injured for a long time,” emphasized Kovač.

He recalled the interaction with Waldemar Anton and Niklas Süle in the back three. If there is a need, the coach also sees other options: “Ryerson can play central defender, and we also have the option of switching to a back four.”

However, Bensebaini should currently be ahead when it comes to replacing Schlotterbeck. What speaks in favor of the Algerian international is that he could replace the German in the right position. Bensebaini was also often used as a left central defender, especially at the beginning of the season.
