Having another great season with Strasbourg, Diego Moreira is attracting interest from big clubs and that happened again in this winter market. However, the French position was very clear for this winter: they were not open to leaving in January.
According to the Alsa’SportsLiam Rosenior’s former team, currently at Chelsea, rejected a proposal of 45 million euros for the former Benfica from a Premier League club, but also another with the same value for Guéla Doué, brother of Désiré Doué (PSG), and another 50 million euros for Joaquin Panichelli.
Any of these three transfers would break the record for the biggest deal in the club’s history, which belongs to Dilane Bakwa to Nottingham, for €35M, as well as Habib Diarra to Sunderland (€31M), last summer, but that didn’t happen and the summer… promises.
Diego Moreira, gained a new life in France, after not so successful spells at Chelsea and Lyon. In 2025, in an interview with ‘Instant Foot’, the left-footer admitted that it was against his will that he left Benfica, in 2022. The Portuguese-Belgian has stood out by playing on the left wing, in a team that usually plays in a three-central system. He has played on the wing, midfield and left winger, and sometimes also on the right.
This season he has scored 3 goals and 6 assists in 29 games for Strasbourg and is already considered an undisputed starter, also participating in the UEFA Conference League. Diego Moreira also scored and assisted in the 3-3 draw against PSG at Parque dos Príncipes, one of the best performances of 2025/26. In 2024/25, he added 2 goals and 8 assists in 34 games.
