Belgium Rally Crash: Spectator Fatality

Drama in Belgium. This Sunday, a spectator lost her life during the Legend Boucles de Bastogne, in the south of the country. It was hit by a car which was participating in the rally and which left the road in the town of Houffalize. Despite the intervention of emergency services, first those planned for the race then external emergency services, she died instantly. She is the only victim of this tragic accident.

“It appears from the initial investigative work carried out that the victim was in an authorized zone at the time of the tragedy,” said the public prosecutor of the province of Luxembourg in a press release. The investigation continues to determine the causes of the accident. A psychological support unit for family and loved ones has been set up. »

The Porsche left the road

The end of the rally was canceled on instructions from law enforcement. It was Christophe Mazuin’s Porsche which left the road and hit the public during Regularity Test 10. There were three timed sectors remaining before the end of the event.

On Facebook, the mayor of Bastogne Benoît Lutgen expressed his support for the family and loved ones of the victim, “a well-known and particularly appreciated lady in the Bastogne region”.
