If the Belgian-Moroccan Rayane Bounida has been making a lot of talk recently with Ajax, another Belgian player is also at the heart of discussions in the Dutch capital: Mika Godts. The left winger is gaining momentum with the Amsterdammers.
This name may not mean much to you, but Mika Godts is one of the most prominent Belgian players at the moment. Once again on Sunday, he was decisive by scoring two goals in the league against Excelsior. One of them was also registered on an assist from Rayane Bounida.
Mika Godts is a young winger aged only 20. He was trained in the Anderlecht training center before joining that of KRC Genk and then that of Ajax. It was with the Dutch club that he made his professional debut in April 2023, during a match against Fortuna Sittard. Initially integrated into the Jong Ajax group, he has now played with the A team since March 2024.
This season, he has already taken part in a total of 29 matches in all competitions. And the least we can say is that it was interesting. In total, he scored 10 goals and provided 9 assists. A very good record for a player who is only gaining strength. Seeing him join the Belgian national team is becoming a real subject.
Mika Godts, un ailier moderne
The Belgian is renowned for his speed, dribbling technique and ability to eliminate one-on-one. He is a right-hander who plays mainly on the left side. He has everything of a modern winger: hard-hitting, skillful and technical. He has now made his place in a team like Ajax, which says a lot about his qualities.
He is inevitably one of the young Belgian players of the 2005 generation to follow. If he continues to gain strength and prove decisive this season, Rudi Garcia could well think twice before selecting him for the 2026 World Cup. What could unfortunately work against him is that he does not play in a major championship, but above all that the competition for the winger position remains strong in the national team.

The 2026 World Cup?
At the microphone of NOShe had also clearly expressed his desire to one day be Red Devil: “I never said that I did not want to play for the Espoirs. I want to play for Belgium, so I hope to be selected next time, whether for the first team or for the Espoirs.”
He also notably raised the subject of potential participation in the 2026 World Cup: “Is it realistic? It’s not for me to judge. In my eyes, it’s still a long way off. If you really want to get there, you have to perform at the highest level every week.”
One thing is certain, he only has one thing to do: continue his momentum. And if he is not included in the next big tournament, it could only be a postponed game, since he has quality, as he has shown on many occasions.
