1. FSV Mainz 05 reacted at short notice to the absence of Benedict Hollerbach and strengthened themselves with Sheraldo Becker on loan. The 30-year-old attacker comes from the Spanish first division club CA Osasuna and is expected to stabilize the Rheinhessen offensive in the final spurt of the season.
Again CA Osasuna officially announcedthe agreement includes a mandatory purchase option in the event that Mainz manages to stay in the Bundesliga and Becker reaches an individual milestone.
Mainz sports director Niko Bungert explained: “Sheraldo Becker knows the league and the coach very well. We are happy that we were able to find a solution in such a short time that doesn’t require a lot of getting used to and brings us further quality into the squad.”
Becker himself is looking forward to returning to the Bundesliga: “I’m happy that it worked out so quickly. I played almost all of my Bundesliga games under Urs Fischer and I’m happy to be able to work with him again. Now it’s about getting as many points as possible in the relegation battle.”
The offensive player brings experience from 104 Bundesliga games, in which he contributed 18 goals and 20 assists. Becker also played six games in the Champions League.
