Superheroes, bananas, colorful clowns and other surprising figures appeared on the badminton courts. “Typical BC-Duffel: badminton with a wink,” laughs party manager Charlotte Peetermans. “Here it’s not about winning or losing, but about having fun together and making it an unforgettable afternoon.”
That fun wasn’t just about the fancy dress. Between the competitions, the participants were presented with fun assignments. “Suddenly everyone had to play with one leg or serve with the wrong hand,” says Peetermans. “The atmosphere was immediately good. Sports doesn’t always have to be deadly serious – sometimes a compliment, a racket and a good dose of humor are enough.”

The tournament brought together a colorful group: recreational players, competition players and real carnival fans played happily together, without rankings or pressure. “New members immediately feel at home here,” Peetermans continues. “Fun is always our top priority.”
Afterwards there was a long discussion in the canteen, with snacks and drinks. The awards ceremony also provided extra hilarity. Lin was named the best dressed player and received a healthy prize, sponsored by Gebroeders Vercammen. “The unlucky person of the day was less lucky: he will soon have to look at no less than 10 kilos of potatoes, including peelings.”

Alderman Kristoff Van Genechten (N-VA) also made an appearance and entered the room himself. “With initiatives like this, BC Duffel once again shows itself as a warm, accessible club where sportsmanship and conviviality go hand in hand,” he said enthusiastically. “That is exactly what associations in Duffel ensure: bringing people together, whether you come for the sport, the fun or just the atmosphere.”
