[마이데일리 = 심재희 기자] Han Ki-beom Basketball Class (Chairman Han Ki-beom) will hold an international basketball tournament in Tenement, Taguig, Philippines on the 21st (Korean time). A venue for international sports exchange will be created where Korean and Filipino youth players can meet on the same court to compete and develop friendships. A total of 144 players will participate and display passion and challenge.
This international basketball tournament is divided into Under 16 and Over 16 divisions. Each division consists of TEAM A and TEAM B. After all teams play evenly in a full league format, the top team from each group advances to the finals to determine the final winner. With the official bracket already released, expectations are rising among participating players, parents, and local officials. The match schedule for the Under 16 division begins at 8:40 a.m. on the 21st, and the Over 16 division begins at 2 p.m. on the 21st. All matches will be played in the group stage followed by the final.
In particular, this competition is significant in that it is an international volunteer program planned as part of talent sharing activities beyond a simple sports event. Former national basketball player and Chairman Han Ki-beom, as well as Han Ki-beom Basketball Class coaches and volunteers will stay in the area from the 19th to the 25th to participate in game management, guidance, and exchange activities. In the process of naturally communicating and learning as Korean and Filipino players play or compete as a team, the educational and social values of sports are put into practice.
Chairman Han Ki-beom said, “What is more important than the result is the process and growth,” and added, “I hope that this competition will be an opportunity for Korean and Filipino youth athletes to understand each other’s culture and grow together through challenges and learning.” He then emphasized the importance of international sports exchange, saying, “Basketball is not just a game, but a language that connects people.”

On the 19th, all staff and players arrived at the site and began the official schedule. After arrival, a final inspection meeting for game operations will be held along with local acclimatization time, and details for safety management and smooth game progress will be reconfirmed. General Manager Lee Hyeong-ju, who is in charge of local operations, said, “We are preparing with the safety of the players and fair competition as our top priority,” and added, “We will do our best to make this tournament an unforgettable experience for all participants.”
This Taguig International Basketball Tournament is attracting attention as a model case that simultaneously realizes the values of international exchange, service, and education using sports.
