Barış Göktürk: Fenerbahçe President Candidate 2027

Former Fenerbahçe Futbol AŞ Board Member Barış Göktürk announced that he will be a presidential candidate in the ordinary general assembly to be held in 2027.

Göktürk gave a speech at the night organized by Balıkesir Fenerbahçe Supporters Association.

Stating that Fenerbahçe needs a system independent of individuals, Göktürk said, “It is not in Fenerbahçe’s interest to hold elections every year. Managements must complete their terms of office. Our preparation is for the 2027 general assembly, which is the 120th anniversary of Fenerbahçe. My friends and I are working for a permanent system that will shed light on the future of Fenerbahçe.”

Reminding that Fenerbahçe will be 120 years old in 2027, Göktürk emphasized that the club now needs a permanent and sustainable system reform instead of temporary successes.

“I AM BORED OF WATCHING THE SAME MOVIE”

Stating that the main problem of the club is the management approach depending on people, Barış Göktürk made the following evaluation:

“Instead of temporary championships that come only in times of money and abundance, we should focus on permanent successes. Fenerbahçe needs an institutional system, independent of individuals. Tyson Gay broke the world record, but he is not remembered because he came second behind Usain Bolt. Milorad Cavic was only a split second behind Michael Phelps, but no one remembers his name. History is cruel, it does not remember the runners-up. Transfers with astronomical fees, exaggerated salaries and, in the end, a Fenerbahçe that could not become a champion again… “I’m tired of watching the same movie.”

Barış Göktürk also stated that they will not be candidates this year unless there is an extraordinary situation.
