As expected, there wasn’t much to gain for 1. BV Mülheim from 1. BC Wipperfeld on the 9th matchday of the 1st Badminton Bundesliga, but there was more than expected.
Constanze Winnefeld was missing, as was top player Danylo Bosniuk, so Annika Weis from the third team helped out again. In front of over 70 spectators, the player of the day from Mülheim’s perspective was Jarne Schlevoigt. In the 2:5 defeat he played a key role in both points. First there was a razor-thin win in five sets with Nikolaj Stuplich in the first men’s doubles and then a smooth win in the mixed doubles with Yevheniia Paksiutova.
There was even a little more possible for the Mülheim team, but Karl Sufryd and Florian Reinhold lost in five sets to Léo van Gysel and Samuel Hsiao in the second men’s doubles.
After this defeat, the Mülheimers remain in 7th place, while Wipperfeld remains well in the championship race in 3rd place.
On the next match day, the Mülheim team will host 1. BC Saarbrücken-Bischmisheim shortly before the Yonex German Open.
