Augsburg Transfers: Kömür to Beşiktaş & Maier to Budapest – Updates

Assuming the 19-year-old passes his scheduled medical19-year-old Nigerian striker Uchenna Ogunda should be unveiled as a new FCA signing on Sunday. The Fuggerstädter have already signed veteran striker Michael Gregoritsch and 20-year-old forward Rodrigo Ribeiro on loan during the current window. Defensive additions Yannik Keitel (Stuttgart) and Arthur Chaves (Hoffenheim) have also arrived in Bavarian Swabia on loan.

Multiple footballing media sources report that former Germany U21 captain and German Olympic representative Arne Maier is set to leave the club. Kickeramong others, confirms that the 27-year-old is headed back to his old Hertha BSC coach Pal Dardai at Hungary’s Ujpest Budapest. Dardai recently took up the sporting director post at the Hungarian first division outfit.

Maier was once quite the German top midfield force, racking up 184 Bundesliga appearances over the course of 10 seasons spent playing for Hertha, Augsburg, and Arminia Bielefeld. Augsburg once singed Maier for €5m and he was still a regular featuring player for the club as late as last season.

Maier nevertheless did play a decreasing role at Augsburg over the last two years and, thanks in part to the emergence of players like Kömür, there was no talk of renewing his expiring contract. Maier still maintains an estimated market value of €2m, but it remains unclear if Augsburg will receive any cash for him.
