Atlético Madrid is showing great interest in Gabri Veiga from FC Porto. The ‘as’ reports that the Colchoneros are planning a new attempt at the 23-year-old next summer. The Madrilenians already offered 16 million euros for the offensive player in the winter transfer window. However, they failed because of the Portuguese top club, who want to achieve a significantly higher transfer increase for the Spaniard. Porto had invested 15 million euros in the player.
Veiga returned to Europe last summer after two years in Saudi Arabia and has impressed this season with twelve goals (four goals, eight assists) in 30 competitive games. Although he still has a contract with the Dragons until 2030, he is said to be very impressed by the interest from Madrid. Under sporting director Mateu Alemany, the Spanish capital club is pursuing the concept of relying more on young Spanish players.
