Big Man is eyeing a new contract
Davis puts pressure on Wizards: ‘Hard to say’ if I’ll stay
Just a few days after arriving in Washington DC, Anthony Davis commented on the trade for the first time. However, he tied his future in the US capital to one condition.

After just 29 appearances, the “Dallas Mavericks” chapter is over for Anthony Davis. The trade to Washington DC opens up a sporting situation for the future Hall of Famer that is not dissimilar to the one in Texas. The Wizards are also stuck in the basement of their conference.
Accordingly, reports initially circulated that Davis was unhappy about his new home. In conversation with The Athletic The big man now contradicted this: “The first visit was great. Everyone welcomed me with open arms. (…) It’s completely different than how people portray it. There’s this stigma that says it’s not a good team. I haven’t seen the training hall yet, but at least the arena is world class.”
Davis on Wizards: “Could be No. 1 in the East as early as next year”
Davis himself is reportedly looking to sign what could be his last major contract in the summer. The current one runs until the summer of 2028, but in the final year it has a player option. He did not yet want to answer whether he would pull this in the capital. Instead, he put pressure on his new employer in the interview.
He was asked whether he would definitely stay in Washington: “Without a decent plan, it’s hard to say,” said Davis. “If you look at the balance sheet, the current situation is of course tough. But with further additions that can change. You could be number one in the East as early as next year.”
