Anderlecht’s Ashimeru: Second Chance for Success? | Football News

Anderlecht are still trying to secure a transfer for right back Thomas Foket this winter. The 31-year-old defender has been in the B team since the preparation and no longer has any prospects with the A team of purple and white.

Today Foket received his second starting place of the season with the RSCA Futures, Anderlecht’s promising team. The club wants to put him back in the spotlight and possibly attract interested clubs.

The RSCA Futures took on RFC Liège. Foket last played on December 9 against Jong Genk and has not had any playing opportunities since. This performance should hopefully bring him back into the spotlight.

Earlier, Majeed Ashimeru also got minutes with the reserves. He was able to arouse interest and eventually left for La Louvière on a rental basis, something Anderlecht now also hopes for for Foket.

However, it remains a challenge to sell or loan players from the B team. Alexis Flips is still injured, while there seems to be hardly any concrete interest in Foket or Mats Rits so far.

Yet Anderlecht keeps trying. By showing Foket in action at the Futures, the people of Brussels hope that clubs will still seize their opportunity and the experienced right back will find a new destination this winter.
