1B – YOUTH By accumulating draws, the RSCA Futures found themselves stuck at the bottom of the rankings and this Saturday’s visit to a direct competitor was therefore an opportunity to give themselves a little breathing room. Having not tasted victory for a long time, the young mauves did the right thing of the weekend by winning in Seraing with a score of 1-2 despite having to play outnumbered for half an hour.
For this trip to Pairay on the ground of a direct competitor at the bottom of the ranking, Jelle Coen decided not to take on an experienced element despite the stakes. Foket therefore left his place on the right wing of the defense to Vroninks. Due to his release from the first team, the coach was also deprived of Tajaouart, an important pawn in the center of the game, who was replaced by De Corte.
The Neerpede kids got into the match well and took the lead in the 7th minute of play through Ndao. In a confusing phase in the Seraing rectangle, Barry broke away to recover the ball before slipping it off balance to Ndao who, with his back to the goal, turned around to deceive the goalkeeper.
Anderlecht then took control of the match and could have doubled their lead on two occasions. Akomolede first had the 0-2 at the end of his foot when he received the ball very close to the goal but his attempt was repelled by a defender folded back on the goal line. At the half-hour mark, Sternal cannoned into the side netting following a brilliant serve from De Corte.
Seraing woke up a little at the end of the half and was more present around the goal defended by Haentjens. The Steelworkers did not come far from equalizing in the 40th minute when a shifted free kick taken directly went very high to land on the top of the crossbar.
The second half resumed in the same way with young mauves who controlled their opponent well. In a confusing situation in the Seraing rectangle during a corner, they even had the opportunity to make the break. Then came the first turning point of the match. On a long ball, the defense was caught behind his back allowing an attacker to run towards the goalkeeper who grabbed the ball. Unfortunately, the referee sanctioned Barry’s slight contact with the Seresian. Whether that was enough to call a foul, difficult to say. That being said, the referee whistled a penalty converted by Seraing to equalize and gave the red to the last Anderlecht defender who found himself at 10.
With numerical superiority, the locals pushed to take the lead without however being dangerous for Haentjens. It was even Akolomede who could have scored with a volley from an impossible angle which flew just wide. Seraing’s only real chance came with less than 10 minutes to go. On a throw-in followed by a confused phase, Lockman shot into the side net.
In the final minutes, Anderlecht returned to the window and was rewarded with a penalty for a foul on Dacosta. Devon De Corte did not tremble and succeeded in the transformation by taking the goalkeeper on the wrong foot, which put his team in control of a match that the mauves did not let go of in the final minutes.
With talent at certain moments, with courage at others, the RSCA Futures recorded their 4th victory of the season. It should be noted that 3 of these successes were acquired on the move, which tends to prove that playing in Deinze does not really offer an advantage to Brussels residents who do not feel at home in the Ghent suburbs.
