Ajax has made an attempt to bring Wilfred Ndidi to Amsterdam. This was reported by transfer journalist Ben Jacobs on Sunday afternoon. The Nigerian (29) is under contract with Besiktas, which is not cooperating for the time being.
According to Jacobs, Ajax has presented a rental structure with an option to purchase to Besiktas. However, the Turks are not keen on the departure of the controlling midfielder, despite the millions beckoning. The Amsterdammers would like to pay a rental fee of two million euros. The proposed purchase option is said to amount to twelve million euros. The Turks then gave a clear ‘no’.

Ndidi is a 29-year-old midfielder from Nigeria, who played for Leicester City in the Premier League for many years. That club sold him to Besiktas six months ago for eight million euros. Ndidi has played fifteen games in the Super Lig so far, scoring once and providing one assist. His contract still runs for two and a half years.
Ndidi is already the fourth number six – a position that Ajax has been wanting to strengthen since the departure of Jordan Henderson – who plays in Istanbul and is linked with a move to Amsterdam. Edson Álvarez, Fred (both Fenerbahçe) and Lucas Torreira (Galatasaray) preceded him. Ajax is also currently working on the arrival of Kodai Sano. A total of fifteen million euros were reportedly offered for the Japanese midfielder from NEC.
The names of Manuel Ugarte (Manchester United), Wataru Endo (Liverpool) and Christian Norgaard (Arsenal) were also mentioned earlier.
With more than two days to go in the winter transfer period, it is extremely busy in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Oleksandr Zinchenko (Arsenal) and Maarten Paes (FC Dallas) will be presented on Sunday, while Maher Carrizo is also about to sign. He comes from Vélez Sarsfield.
