The French badminton championships start this Friday February 6, 2026 at the Palais des Sports in Caen. He’s staying places on sale. How is the event shaping up?
How many tournaments are organized?
There are five competitions: the men’s individual tournament, the women’s individual tournament, the women’s doubles, the men’s doubles and the mixed doubles. Only senior categories are concerned.
How many players are present?
Each tournament welcomes a different number of players. There will be 36 men and 25 women in singles. On the doubles side, there will be 22 women’s pairs, 23 men’s pairs and 31 mixed pairs. Some players are registered in several categories. There will be 142 badists.
What is the program?
Friday is devoted to qualifying. The matches will be played on four courts and will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the first session, then from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for the second session. The serious things will begin on Saturday with the start of the quarter-finals. The top seeds will enter the fray. The meetings will begin at 10:00 a.m. The first session, which corresponds to the quarter-finals, will end at 4:00 p.m. The second session, namely the semi-finals, will last from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Finally, the finals will be played on Sunday between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Who are the headliners?
The main headliner for us Normans is obviously Alex Lanier. The eighth player in the world, from Ranville, will play at home. The draw is exceptional in men’s singles with Christo Popov, world number 7, and his brother Toma Popov. The four seeds, who will therefore begin the tournament in the quarter-finals, were champions of France. On the women’s side, the reigning French champion, Qi Xuefei is absent. The favorite is the head Franc-Comptoise Anna Tatranova. In mixed doubles, the challenge will be great for those who will try to bring down European champions Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue.
Will there be premises?
Alex Lanierthe youngest player to win the European title, is obviously the star of the Caen meeting. There will also be three players from the Caen club, which plays in the French bad elite. Milo Dubois et Thomas Schmitt will represent the Conquerors in men’s doubles. They will notably face a player from Alençon, Tom Germain, in the semi-final of the qualifications. Milo Dubois is also involved in mixed with his teammate Clemence Gaudreau. The latter will also play the women’s doubles alongside Adèle Fillonneau.

The matches are broadcast on the YouTube channel of the French Badminton Federation. The finals will be on the L’Équipe channel. The results will be updated on the FFB website. The French championships are also on the federation’s social networks, especially on Facebook.
