Good news for Ajax: Nottingham Forest will tear up the lease agreement with Oleksandr Zinchenko and Arsenal ‘within 24 hours’. The Daily Mail released this news on Tuesday afternoon.
Zinchenko’s move to Ajax seemed complete a week ago, but a tug-of-war between Arsenal and Nottingham Forest put the winter deal ‘on hold’. There is now light at the end of the tunnel: Forest is expected to terminate the lease deal within 24 hours, according to The Daily Mail.
The agreement between Arsenal and Nottingham Forest paves the way for Ajax, which is likely to take over Zinchenko on a free transfer. Arsenal must still terminate his expiring contract. In the Johan Cruijff ArenA, the left back from Ukraine can sign until the end of the season. Zinchenko has already undergone a medical examination by Ajax.
Ajax initially seemed to hire Zinchenko, but discussions later turned to a permanent transfer. Signing him for longer would be practically impossible, because the captain of the Ukraine national team in England earns a salary of millions that Ajax cannot afford for a longer period.
Zinchenko has had a disappointing stay in Nottingham. After Sean Dyche’s entrance, his perspective completely clouded. With his departure, Forest hopes to free up space for additional loan reinforcements, alongside Napoli’s Lorenzo Lucca. For that reason the paths part with Douglas Luiz. The Brazilian, linked to Ajax, is well on his way to Aston Villa.
