(Yanggu = Yonhap News) Reporter Yang Ji-woong = Yanggu-gun, Gangwon-do announced on the 4th that it created an economic effect of 34.2 billion won, the highest ever, through sports marketing last year.

This is an increase of 3.3 billion won (about 11%) from the sports marketing economic effect of 30.9 billion won in 2024.

Last year, the county successfully hosted 111 national competitions in 13 sports, including tennis, baseball, weightlifting, and fencing, and field training for 113 teams in 11 sports.

Through this, approximately 340,000 people, including athletes, their families, and tournament officials, visited the region, revitalizing the overall commercial area, including the lodging and restaurant industries.

In particular, the sports marketing base was expanded by actively attracting youth team sports such as soccer, baseball, and basketball, which led to increased sales of small businesses and revitalization of the local economy.

Based on these achievements, Yanggu-gun plans to accelerate sports marketing in this year’s winter season.

First, we plan to use January and February, when there are relatively few sporting events, to attract about 50 training teams in sports such as tennis, weightlifting, baseball, taekwondo, and gymnastics.

In addition, starting with the ‘Vitro Cup Indoor Junior Tennis Competition’ held at Yanggu Tennis Park from the 5th to the 11th, the 2026 Lifestyle Sports National Judo Competition, the 14th Head Cup Indoor Junior Tennis Competition, 2026 Baseball & T-Ball Festival, Little Baseball Stove League, 2026 1st Yanggu Apple Cup National Youth Basketball Competition, ATF Lee Hyeong Delivery 1st and 2nd Yanggu 14 Year Olds The international junior tennis tournament is planned to continue until the end of next month.

In addition, in order to attract a field training team, we plan to provide various administrative and financial support, such as use of a training center exclusively for players, support for lodging expenses, and free use of stadiums and sports facilities.
