Wytse van der Goot is positively surprised by Mats Deijl’s interview in front of the camera Ziggo Sports. The Go Ahead Eagles captain will soon transfer to Feyenoord and he makes this known himself. “This is refreshing,” says the presenter.
Deijl lost 3-1 in the Europa League with Go Ahead Eagles on Thursday evening when they visited OGC Nice. He says afterwards that it was his last match for the Deventers. “I still have to sign a signature, but if the ride to the hotel goes well, then I will be a Feyenoord player.”
“If a club like Feyenoord reports, do you want to wait to see what happens in the summer? I don’t think so. Then that choice is made very quickly. I had good conversations there. This is a step you dream about.”
“As a little boy you want the highest possible achievement. It’s all very nice. My mind has been a little less calm the last few days,” says Deijl. “I think that’s human, a lot happens. But I tried to quickly switch things up.”
Van der Goot leaves in the studio Ziggo Sports know that we really enjoyed Sam van Rooyen’s interview with the wing defender. “What a beautiful conversation with Mats Deijl!”
“It is also quite unique, because we have just heard the captain of a club that played in the Europa League openly talk about his transfer. Cool!”, says the presenter.
“It’s so refreshing in a football world that is bricked up and that this boy just says: ‘I’ll go if I make it to the hotel.’ Beautiful transfer.”
