Another sense of Wolf
Last June, he announced that he would be joining New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Wolf Aron, who made a shocking debut, has this other sense of style. In his debut match, he used familiar wrestling techniques such as the elbow drop and lariat against EVIL, as well as performing a judo ippon back, receiving illegal techniques, and then using an inverted triangle choke to knock him out. After watching this fight, I was convinced of this. I believe that professional wrestler Hiroshi Nagata, who brought him into professional wrestling, definitely saw this in his eyes.
Judo gold medalist Ruska lacked flair
When I watched Wolf’s match, I immediately thought of Satoshi Sayama (the original Tiger Mask). Mr. Inoki said, “The only person who can compete with me in New Japan Pro Wrestling is Satoshi Sayama (the first Tiger Mask).” In addition to his high level of athletic ability as a wrestler, he thought that he had the same sense of style as himself.
On the other hand, a man who was strong but lacked this sense was Dutch judo gold medalist Willem Luska, who competed against Inoki in 1976 to determine the best martial arts in the world. I just do strong wrestling. Even if you enter professional wrestling from judo, there is a big difference between having good taste and not having good taste. I can only say that this is something I was born with.
The 80-year-old wall that Inoki could not overcome
On a different note, the average life expectancy for men is currently 81.09 years. Average lifespan does not mean that you will live to that age, but it is an indicator and many people set it as a goal. However, from my experience as a doctor, there is a “80-year-old wall” before the average lifespan. The big question is whether we can overcome this. Unfortunately, Inoki wasn’t able to overcome it.
I too have four illnesses.
I currently have four illnesses. Angina pectoris, prostate cancer (stage 2), intervertebral narrow and diabetes. I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was 59 years old. When my blood sugar level was tested, my HbA1c (hemoglobin A1c: average blood sugar level over the past 1-2 months) was 8.5, which exceeded the standard value (less than 6.2% is excellent, 6.2-6.9% is good).
When I was diagnosed, I thought, “It’s finally here.” This is because during his time as a ring doctor, he repeatedly engaged in binge drinking with wrestlers both at the central and local shows.
that strong Mr. Inoki, who had a strong body, also developed diabetes. That was when I was 39 years old. Since then, he has been competing in the ring while continuing to receive treatment for diabetes. I had a daily routine of blood sugar tests and insulin injections.
I am the same, and since my numbers have worsened, I have been taking insulin injections in addition to diet and medication. We live in good health with many illnesses.
Don’t do what you don’t like, do what you like
Doctor Hideki Wada, author of “The Wall of 80 Years Old” says, “The wall of 80 years old is high and thick, but there is the strongest way to overcome it. That is to do only what you like without putting up with what you don’t like.” As a fellow doctor, I think that’s exactly right.
I like sumo, professional wrestling, boxing, and martial arts, and have been a sumo wrestler myself, but now I can’t move my body freely. However, you can enjoy watching it.
What motivates me is watching the wrestlers fighting in the ring. I still go to watch professional wrestling about ten times a year. I look forward to watching the new wrestling star, Wolf Aron, and hope that he can somehow overcome the 80-year-old barrier. (Dr. Takashi Tomiya)
