The winter festival of school and student sports was attended by more than eight thousand young Muscovites. It took place on January 24 on the territory of the Luzhniki sports complex. This was reported in the press service of the capital’s Department of Education and Science.
The program included competitions in both traditional winter sports and unusual ones. The main event was mass cross-country skiing, among the participants were Muscovites with disabilities. On them, schoolchildren, students and teachers covered distances of one and two kilometers.
“What I liked most was the hockey master class. The instructors explained everything clearly, helped and showed key techniques. But besides hockey, there was something to do – there were many venues at the festival: you could ride a snowboard, test yourself on a winter obstacle course, and even play football in felt boots,” Ilya Nushtaev, a student at school No. 1287, shared his impressions.
Of particular interest were team games in the snow. The boys competed in tag rugby, volleyball and tactical snowball fights. One of the most spectacular events was football in felt boots. In addition, there were curling, snow darts and biathlon shooting ranges. You could test your impact force on a hockey strength meter, and test your speed in a relay race and on an obstacle course. During the day, master classes in figure skating and hockey were held at the large skating rink.
A championship in the game “Rock, Paper, Scissors” was also held for visitors. A ski race for directors of capital colleges and schools also took place, in which commentator Georgy Cherdantsev, ambassador of school sports, took part.
At the festival there was an opportunity to communicate with famous athletes. Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Nikita Kryukov told the guys how to increase their endurance during training, silver medalist of the Russian championship figure skater Makar Ignatov shared the secrets of his skill, Olympic champion in hockey, winner of the Gagarin Cup Sergei Andronov revealed the subtleties of hockey tactics, and snowboarder Denis Leontyev (Bonus) showed tricks at a jibbing master class.
The winter festival of school and student sports is organized by the capital’s Department of Education and Science and the Department of Sports.
