” href=”https://www.fcupdate.nl/footballers/owen-wijndal”>Owen Wijndal personally apologized in the Alkmaarders’ dressing room after his red card in the match against AZ. Wouter Goes said this in conversation with Football International. The AZ central defender was the victim of a hard foul by the Ajax left back, who was immediately punished with red.
Last Wednesday evening, AZ was in charge of Ajax on all fronts, which was knocked out of the Eurojackpot KNVB Cup tournament with a slaughter (6-0). With a 4-0 deficit, Wijndal made things even more difficult for his team when he received a justified red card: the left back pushed hard and stepped on the leg of AZ defender Goes.

Bas Nijhuis didn’t hesitate for a moment and sent Wijndal, who played during AZ – Ajax anyway the bitten dog was, from the field. “I felt that for a moment, yes. I suffered a nice abrasion from it,” Goes responds to the charge. From the stands Wijndal saw how Ajax scored two more goals, making the final score 6-0.
Afterwards, the Ajax defender apologized in the dressing room of AZ, his former employer. “Owen came to the dressing room afterwards to say sorry. That was nice of him,” Goes reveals. The KNVB has imposed a three-match suspension on Wijndal, one of which is conditional.
