Alexander Wennberg was one of the more unexpected names in the squad that Sweden took to the Olympics last Friday.

Now the 31-year-old’s great week continues.

The forward has extended his contract with the San Jose Sharks by three years. The agreement is worth 18 million dollars, corresponding to roughly 166 million kroner.

– Super excited to be part of this organization for three more years. So happy to be here, making the Bay Area my second home. Really looking forward to what lies ahead, he says in a video on X.

Wennberg has scored 26 points (7+19) for his San Jose this season. In total, he has played over 800 games in the NHL and represented teams such as the New York Rangers, Seattle Kraken, Florida Panthers and Columbus Blue Jackets.
