Wembanyama’s Spurs Struggles: Injury Impact?

On Wednesday, Victor Wembanyama ended the year 2025 with a blow. The French Spurs prodigy was injured during San Antonio’s victory against the New York Knicks (134-132) in the NBA, visibly injured in one leg.

Returning from a left calf injury only in mid-December, Wembanyama fell badly after a rebound in the fourth quarter.

The star of the Texan franchise remained on the floor for a few seconds before being taken to the locker room. The Frenchman totaled 31 points and 13 rebounds until then. He returned to the bench later and was able to celebrate this success on the line with his teammates.

Spurs coach Mitch Johnson was not immediately able to provide details on his star’s fitness. “I haven’t been able to speak to the medical team yet but, you know, I think I saw what everyone else saw,” he said, referring to Wembanyama’s poor reception. “It was good to see him come back and be able to finish the match on the bench with his teammates,” he nevertheless noted.
