Wembanyama & Schröder: NBA Updates & Highlights

Decisive Wembanyama in Boston

Always spared off the bench, Victor Wembanyama managed a great end to the match to help the Spurs win at TD Garden 100 to 95 after a close clash (never more than 9 points difference) between the 2nd in the West and the 3rd in the East (2nd before the match).

“Wemby” started the 4th quarter with a block against Jaylen Brown followed by a one-handed dunk. If a few bad choices followed, the French prodigy made up for it as the siren approached with two shots from mid-distance, to give 2 points in advance (at 1:34) then 4 points in advance and validate the victory at 19 seconds.

Wembanyama finished with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks in 26 minutes. De’Aaron Fox’s Spurs (21 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists) were diligent in defense, but suffered in attack from great clumsiness behind the arc (10 out of 44 at 22.7%). Former Spur Derrick White (29 points, 9 rebounds) and 2024 Finals MVP Jaylen Brown (27 points, 8 rebounds 7 assists) hurt the Texans, the latter showing himself skillful from afar, notably with shots sent very high above Wembanyama at the start of the match.

Schröder tried to hit Doncic

The NBA announced on Saturday the suspension for three games of German point guard of the Sacramento Kings Dennis Schröder for “tried to hit another player” in the corridors of the Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles on December 28.

Several American media specify that Schröder tried to attack Luka Doncic, who had openly attacked the German during the Kings’ defeat against the Lakers 125 to 101.

The Clippers continue in Detroit

The Los Angeles Clippers won a second game in two days, this time on the floor of the leader in the East, the Detroit Pistons (98-92), after winning in Brooklyn on Friday.

Led for almost the entire game, the Clippers took the lead 2 minutes from the buzzer thanks to John Collins (25 pts) and the late effort of James Harden (19 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists), against the Pistons deprived of their leader Cade Cunningham. The Clippers, who have won 9 of their last 11 matches, remain 11th in the West, but are getting closer to the play-off places.
