Victor Wembanyama did not suffer any ligament damage to his left knee, the San Antonio Spurs said Thursday. The Spurs pivot was injured in his team’s last match and underwent an MRI.
The Spurs announced that Wembanyama’s condition is being evaluated on a day-to-day basis and that he will continue his rehabilitation in San Antonio.
Unsurprisingly, he will miss Friday’s game against the poor Indiana Pacers.
On Wednesday, during San Antonio’s 134-132 victory against the New York Knicks, Wemby hyperextended his left knee while trying to recover an offensive rebound against Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns. There were 10 minutes and 32 seconds left in the match when the Frenchman was injured.
Wembanyama said he felt good after the game and expected to play Friday against the Pacers, but said San Antonio’s medical team could decide otherwise based on test results.
“Luckily it was just a hyperextension,” said the Spurs star. “It should be minimal, whatever it is. »
The French giant averages 24.3 points and 11.7 rebounds for the Spurs (24-9).
