Sexual violence in (judo) sports: information and contact point in the Lower Saxony Judo Association

The judo group / fitness division at VSV-Hohenbostel takes a clear and active stand against any form of violence, discrimination, racism and xenophobia.

The physical and emotional closeness that can arise in sport and is not of similar importance in any other context poses the danger of sexualized attacks. A culture of attention and action by those responsible must help to encourage those affected to speak up, deter potential perpetrators and create a climate that protects children, young people and adults from sexual violence in sport. Violence and especially sexualized violence includes all acts that are forced or imposed on a person. It is an act of aggression and abuse of power.

In sport and especially in judo, sporting fairness and mutual tolerance are the top priority of social interaction. This is also reflected in the judo values that are part of our training.

Judo is a value-oriented sport and the 10 judo values are of great importance for judo as a competitive sport:

  • courtesy
  • honesty
  • Respect
  • Modesty
  • Mut
  • Self-control
  • friendship
  • Willingness to help
  • seriousness
  • Appreciation

All judo trainers and trainer assistants employed by VSV Hohenbostel are trained on the subject of PSG (Presentation of sexual violence) trained and sensitized. To this end, every judo trainer employed confirms his promise to actively support these values by signing the DJB code of honor (German Judo Federation).

Despite the preventive measures, it can happen that, especially in judo as a contact sport, situations arise that are perceived differently or are perceived by those affected as crossing borders. We would like to offer starting points so that we can address these situations openly. In addition to the trainers, VSV Hohenbostel also offers two neutral contact persons. Topics that concern our trainers can also be discussed confidentially with the neutral contact persons.

In addition, this page also lists information about neutral contacts beyond the potentially affected club to provide a reporting point for problems.

In addition to problems relating to sport and the club, there can also be problems in the private environment/environment not relating to sport in the club.

We want to support our athletes with problems beyond sport. If you have problems yourself or notice problems with one of your sports friends, we would like to encourage you to reach out to us or one of the contacts listed. We become your problems vetraulich treat and look for suitable solutions together! There is no place for violence and abuse in the sport of judo!
