Vitão to Flamengo: Internacional Confirms Transfer

— Within the scope and as a direct counterpart to the same operation, Sport Club Internacional clarifies that the acquisition of the federative and economic rights of the athlete Thiago Maia, together with the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, was fully resolved and settled — said Internacional, in an official note.

The defender will be Flamengo’s first reinforcement for 2026. He was already on the radar throughout 2025 and arrives to compete for position with Léo Pereira, Léo Ortiz and Danilo.

To hire the first reinforcement of the season, Flamengo closed a deal with Internacional worth around 10 million euros (around R$65 million, at current prices). The amount paid, however, will be just over half (R$35 million) of the total amount, as the club from Rio Grande do Sul had incurred a debt of 4 million euros in the acquisition of midfielder Thiago Maia, a former red-and-black player, in 2024.

Vitão arrived at Inter in 2022. The defender played 193 matches, scored four goals and contributed two assists. He won Gauchão last year.

Hired in April 2022, Vitão arrived at Internacional after leaving European football in an exceptional context. On that occasion, the Club opened its doors so that the athlete could continue his career, becoming part of the Colorado squad.

Throughout his career at Beira-Rio, the defender played 193 matches with the Colorado shirt, scored 4 goals and contributed 2 assists. Internacional would like to thank the athlete for his dedication, professionalism and services provided during his time at the Club.
