Gathered on Friday January 23, 2026 at the Maison des Associations, the members of the Vikings Baseball Club of Chalon-sur-Saône held their annual general meeting.
The opportunity for David Luxceythe president of the club, to take stock of the 2025 season and outline the broad outlines of a 2026 exercise which promises to be ambitious.
A 2025 season full of commitments
With 42 licenseesthe Chalonnais club has been able to maintain sustained activity throughout the past year. The Vikings were engaged on several fronts:
• A baseball senior, with participation in the Burgundy–Franche-Comté regional championship alongside the clubs of Dole, Baudrières, Besançon, Montbéliard and the Entente Fénay 2/Dijon.
• And softball mixed indoors, in a championship still in progress for the winter of 2025/2026, against Besançon and Fénay.
• Among the young 15U, integrated into an agreement with Baudrières and Besançon, who were able to confront the teams from Fénay and Auxerre.
So many formative experiences which allowed players, young and old, to progress and gain maturity.
A structure that is strengthening
The club also continues to grow in organizational strength. The presence of the Vikings at the Forum of Associations in the fall allowed the arrival of new recruits, who are now fully integrated into training.
On the management side, the return of Maxime Ledoux as a coach is a major asset. Among the officials, Samuel Gauthier has validated its baseball and softball referee exam, while new scorer training is already scheduled. Newly graduated Federal Animator (DFA), Tony Odd will strengthen the technical staff and assist the coach. An additional weekly training session could also see the light of day in the spring.
The Steering Committee, now made up of ten members, was expanded with the arrival of Tony Odd, Maxime Ledoux et Jerome Remywhile reappointing the members of the office to their functions.
Healthy finances, but worrying infrastructure
Financially, the club’s situation is considered healthy and balanced. President David Luxcey wished to renew his thanks to the City of Chalon-sur-Saône, represented at the meeting by Bruno Rochettethe municipal councilor responsible for sports, for the provision of a gymnasium as well as the Prairie Saint-Nicolas land.
However, one point of concern remains: the state of the infrastructure at the Roseraie site. Victim further damagethe complex shows the weight of the years. The state of the soilpractice», marked by differences in levels, raises fears of an increased risk of injuries as the start of the championship, scheduled for March, approaches. A consultation is already underway with the municipal sports department.
A 2026 season full of promise
While awaiting the final schedule for the regional championship, the Vikings are continuing their training. The progress observed during the last indoor matches suggests a promising 2026 season for the Chalonnais club.
Also present were Cristelle Duranton et Frédéric Vailleaurespectively secretary and treasurer of the club.
A measured, but very real, optimism which confirms that the Vikings are staying the course. To be continued.
