Regarding the year 2025, the representation of Venezuela framed everything achieved, returning to the continental podiums and ensuring a place in the global basketball elite.
As the main and most recent milestone, the FVB training, after the annual update of the World Youth Ranking, Venezuela rose 20 places with the men’s teams, thus being the fifth country with the greatest growth in the year and number 29 in the world.
At the men’s level, the main victory was the bronze obtained in the FIBA Americup U16, valid for obtaining a place in the upcoming FIBA U17 World Cup in 2026, ultimately defeating the Puerto Rican team (84-76), and this being the first time in history that Venezuela has reached the podium in this tournament.
Furthermore, in the South American U17, the boys left with the bronze medal in a tough tournament in which they beat Uruguay (85-68) in the third place game, ensuring their place in the Americup U18 of 2026.
In women’s categories, Venezuela obtained a silver medal in the South American U17, shining with its own light and obtaining a direct pass to the Americup U18 of 2026. In parallel, it also achieved 6th place in the FIBA Americup U16, competing with powers in the region.

Most notable players
Without a doubt, the player who had the best projection in 2025 was Kevin Gutierrez, who recently positioned himself in the ideal quintet of the Sudamerian U17, and the Americup U16, averaging almost a Double-Double per game and being key for national representation in these tournaments.
Others who were key for Venezuela in training categories were Jose Lara, fundamental in the functioning of the quintet and leading in moments of pressure and Greidysmar Camacaro, being the spark plug in the women’s attack, standing out for her ability to create play and leadership in the South American U17.
