Joey Veerman will play with PSV in the away match against Newcastle United in the competition phase of the Champions League on Wednesday evening. It is a special match for the midfielder, because he may face his good friend Sven Botman.
Veerman and Botman played together at sc Heerenveen in the 2019/2020 season. The two built up a good bond and then kept in touch, Veerman said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“You don’t always have that in football, that you keep in touch with former teammates. Sven has become a really good friend. We often go on holiday to the south of France together. It’s great fun to play against each other, although I don’t think we will often encounter each other on the field,” the PSV midfielder is quoted by, among others. The Telegraph.
Veerman and Botman contacted each other via WhatsApp about Wednesday evening’s match. Teases were exchanged back and forth, with Botman sending an extremely painful and humiliated text to Veerman. “He acted a bit cool that his teammates had never heard of PSV,” says the PSV player.
Veerman also made no bones about WhatsApp, Botman reveals: “You know him: he doesn’t mince his words, so he dared to say that he will easily win here,” said the center defender.
