Van Persie: Team Changes Confirmed

Feyenoord will take on Heracles Almelo on Sunday afternoon at 4:45 PM. The team of coach Robin van Persie wants to maintain the good feeling of the victory in the Europa League (3-0 against Sturm Graz) and receives a visit from the bottom of the Eredivisie. This is Feyenoord’s likely line-up.

Under the bar is Timon Wellenreuther, as usual. The captain of the Rotterdam team has been the undisputed number one under Van Persie all season and that will be no different after the departure of Justin Bijlow. At right back, the coach has to choose between Jordan Lotomba and Jermiah St. Juste. The choice probably falls on the Swiss, as St. Juste has little competition rhythm. The backline will also consist of Anel Ahmedhodzic, Tsuyoshi Watanabe and Jordan Bos.

Van Persie will probably also change in midfield. In-Beom Hwang was in the starting line-up in recent matches, but could not reach his level. Now that Oussama Targhalline is back from his Africa Cup of Nations adventure with Morocco, he will probably start again. Luciano Valente, who extended his contract this week until 2030, is also in the starting line-up, as is Sem Steijn.

In attack, Anis Hadj Moussa plays from the right side. The Algerian winger will remain in De Kuip at least until the end of the season, as technical and general manager Dennis te Kloese hinted at the New Year’s reception, and can therefore once again count on a starting spot. Ayase Ueda will be stationed at the point of attack and Leo Sauer will probably be preferred to Goncalo Borges on the right flank.

Presumed Feyenoord line-up: Wellenreuther; Lotomba, Ahmedhodzic, Watanabe, Bos; Targhalline, Valente, Steijn; Hajj Moussa, Ueda, Sauer.
