Uzun Returns: Toppmöller Confirms Transfer

The hope of Can Uzun returning at the start of the Bundesliga second half of the season has been fulfilled. Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller announced the return of the offensive top performer in a media interview before matchday 18.

Uzun was out during the week due to ankle problems. However, Toppmöller revealed on Thursday that he has now trained again and is “accordingly back in the squad”.

The timing is right: While Uzun returns, position competitor Mario Götze (ill) is now out. However, it is not certain that the returnee will be able to play right from the start.

“We have to see that, Can trained very little after the game against Dortmund (3:3 last Friday, editor’s note) and was on the pitch with the team for the first time today,” Toppmöller shared his thoughts. A day before the game not much happened in training. The SGE coach also has to take into account the many games in the coming weeks. On the positive side, Uzun is pain-free. Basically: “If he is in full possession of his strength, then he is always a candidate for the starting eleven.”
