The fighter nicknamed the kung fu kid, Song Yadong, was surprised that the UFC canceled his fight against Umar Nurmagomedov.
JUARA.NET – The kung fu kid, Song Yadong, admitted that he almost challenged Khabib’s cousin, Umar Nurmagomedov, at UFC 324.
Song Yadong will appear at UFC 324 but not against Umar Nurmagomedov.
The fighter from China challenged the former bantamweight champion, Sean O’Malley, at the T-Mobile Arena, Nevada, on Sunday (25/1/2026).
The duel is expected to pave the way for Song Yadong to fight for the bantamweight belt, which is currently held by Petr Yan.
Song admitted that he had been offered by UFC to face Umar in January 2026.
However, the fighter nicknamed Kung Fu Boy was surprised that the UFC had canceled this plan.
Even though he showed his prowess when he faced the veteran bantamweight fighter, Henry Cejudo.
“We were supposed to fight in January 2024 but I don’t know what happened,” Song told media including Juara.net.
Umar Nurmagomedov actually faced the Brazilian champion, Deiveson Figueiredo, at UFC 324.
