U16s Fall to Turkey in Prep Tournament – Match Report

The Czech under-16 national team played the second match of the preparatory tournament in Turkey on Friday. Coach Pavel Šustra’s men led the home team after Jan Bindro’s goal, but Turkey turned the score around and won 2:1.

The under-16 team lost to Ukraine 1:3 in the opening match of the preparatory tournament on Monday, when defender Tomáš Cimpl scored the only Czech goal. The Turks drew 1:1 with Ukraine on Wednesday.

In Friday’s duel against home team Turkey, however, the Czech team took the lead in the fourteenth minute, when Jan Bindr opened the scoring after a pass from captain Lukáš Soused.

The home team managed to equalize before the break, when Metehan Eksiner made his mark. The same player was also among the scorers twenty minutes before the end, and home Turkey won 2:1.

“In the first half, the opponent had more of the game, but we took the lead with Bindra’s goal. The opponent equalized after a nice individual action. We created two more chances before the end of the first half. In the second half, we improved our movement and the game leveled out. Unfortunately, after our risky play, the opponent took the lead and, despite our great effort and created chances, we could not turn the unfavorable result around.” said coach Pavel Šustr after the match.
