Tokmac Nguen joined Djurgården from Ferencvaros ahead of the 2024 season. At the turn of the year, the offensive play’s contract with the Blue Stripes expired and Nguen’s future has been uncertain.
Now it is clear that Nguen will not extend with Djurgården and thus leave the club.
– It’s sad to leave at the same time as I feel a sense of pride in having played in Djurgården. A fantastic association with incredible supporters, so I am very happy about my time here and have only good things to say about Djurgården, Nguyen said in a statement.
In total, the Norwegian was noted for 68 competitive matches with 20 goals and 14 assists in Djurgården over two seasons.
Nguen elaborates on his reasons for now leaving the Stockholm club on the club’s website. In connection with his departure from Djurgården, he talks about his next destination.
– I will play for Al Akhdoud in Saudi Arabia, a club in the top league that is strengthening to advance in the table. This will be an exciting adventure for me and the family and I have had discussions with Bosse (Andersson sports director) since last summer about options.
– There have been various opportunities, but in terms of clubs in Europe, there has been nothing that has felt better than Djurgården, considering how well I have enjoyed myself here. In the end I still decided that I wanted to have an adventure and try something new, so the choice fell on Al Akhdoud.
Djurgården’s sporting director Bosse Andersson comments on Nguyen’s departure to the same website:
– Tokmac was a prestige signing who would be here and make a difference. A skilled and often spectacular player with a top level of top Allsvenskan class. He was responsible for match-deciding efforts during our long European adventure in the Conference League, where he was selected in the tournament’s All Star Team, but he also scored many important points in the Allsvenskan for us, says Andersson and continues:
– Since last summer, Tokmac has been clear that if something came up that was good for him in Arab football, he would be extremely interested. That’s how it happened now, and thus it’s just a matter of thanking Tokmac for his time in Djurgården as well as the achievements we’ve seen and wish him the best of luck in Al Akhdoud.
Al Akhdoud is currently second jumbo in the Saudi Pro League.
