Agents from the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Baja California secured an important arsenal on the night of January 15, after responding to a 911 report about armed individuals in the García neighborhood. The operation was carried out on the old Tijuana-Tecate highway with the coordination of federal, state and municipal authorities.
The intervention began when the State Citizen Security Force located a gray Volkswagen Jetta, matching the description in the report. During an inspection, the elements found a firearm in plain sight on the passenger seat, which prompted a more thorough inspection of the vehicle.
Three suitcases were found in the trunk of the car, two of them containing a large number of weapons of different calibers. The perimeter was immediately secured and the radio headquarters was notified, activating the corresponding protocols to safeguard the evidence.
The seized arsenal, made up of 30 short weapons, 21 long weapons and 26 magazines, was placed at the disposal of the competent authority to determine its origin and possible links to criminal activities. The vehicle was also taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
